The staff of the State Institution “Belsportobespechenie” together with the delegation of the Ministry of Sports and the sports community of Belarus took part in laying flowers, honoring the memory of the victims of the Khatyn tragedy.
On this day, the whole of Belarus unites in a commemorative vigil, remembering the residents of the village of Khatyn, who were driven into a barn and burned by the punishers. In 1943, 149 people, including 75 children, lost their lives in a fire.
According to the data obtained during the investigation of the criminal case of genocide, 288 villages in Belarus shared the fate of Khatyn. At least 12,348 settlements were burned down by the Nazis in whole or in part.
